Iron Cactus:
BreaknBred does not only feature Houston based places we travel and try food everywhere we go and if you make the cut, then you make the cut. While on vacation in San Antonio my wife and I checked out the Iron Cactus.
This restaurant is off the river walk it has a great atmosphere and a great view of the river, Iron Cactus specializes in Mexican cuisines and they know their stuff.
For all us drinkers the first thing that will get your attention is the Tequila menu, I say menu because that’s exactly what it is , with a huge variety of different tequila’s and tequila based drinks. Now that we have some food motivation the chips and salsa was great with the home made hot chips and salsa done just right. My main course was so good the picture makes my mouth water all over again.
The Iron Cactus Mixed Grill it consists of three grilled jumbo bacon wrapped shrimp, two jalapeno rope sausage and a char-crusted Tampiquena steak with sides of lime butter and chipotle glaze, on a sizzling platter with grilled onions and peppers. You get a choice of beans and Mexican rice with garlic grilled tortillas. Now if that description doesn’t get you the taste will. The jumbo bacon wrapped shrimps were phenomenal, the sausage had just the right spice and putting a little of everything in the tortilla is Heaven with a side of queso because I love cheese. The menu is going to entice you soon as you open it and the perks of the restaurant aren’t bad either.
When you take your vacation to San Antonio you have to check this place out because it is defiantly worth it especially if you want a romantic dinner on the river walk with your special someone. Don’t forget to tell them BreaknBred sent you.
