Bayou city is a seafood restaurant in Houston, TX in the galleria area so I expected it to be very or somewhat expensive but it was very reasonable. When you first pull up to Bayou City you are not quite sure what to expect I thought it was going to be like a sports bar, but to my surprise the environment was very relaxing and inviting, even elegant in a way.
Starting off with seafood gumbo and a pound of crawfish. Most places I order gumbo from I have to add seasonings and some hot sauce but Bayou City gumbo was very on point with their gumbo the rue was great and all the ingredients meshed very well. The crawfish were huge, seasoned to perfection and very meaty (BIG MEATY!)
I also tried the Pasta Liberty which was a combination of shrimp, crab crawfish with mushrooms and spinach in a white wine sauce. You have of choice of either angel hair or fettuccini pasta, I chose angel hair. When my food arrived I was shocked by such a large portion which is great because you are getting more than your money’s worth and you also have leftovers to take home. The first bite was excellent, everything so fresh and the white wine sauce was the icing on the cake. Usually pastas are very heavy but this was light and airy with all the flavors coursing through each bite.
If you are in the galleria area Bayou City is at 4730 Richmond Ave, and don’t forget to tell them BreaknBred sent you.
